Abstract: A new forma of Paphiopedilum micranthum has been discovered in the collection of Mr. Ngo Trung Kien, in Thai Nguyen. Albinistic variants of Paphiopedilum micranthum Tang & Wang have been described, as Paphiopedilum micranthum fma. glanzeanum (Gruss et Roeth, in: Die Orchidee, Beiheft 2: 16 – 24 [1994]) Gruss et Roeth in Caesiana 12: 60 (1999), however they have various amounts of yellow and green in the petals and sepals, following the pattern of the type species. This new forma has never been seen before, and is a pure alba fl ower, with the exception of some yellow on the staminodium. We describe this new pure white form as Paphiopedilum micranthum fma. kienii forma.nov. Schettler & Pham in honor of his discoverer and grower, Mr. Ngo Trung Kien of Thai Nguyen.
This new species was described in ORCHIDEENJOURNAL Vol. 4(2)、3-4、2016 by Mr. Roland Schettler and Pham Duc Minh.
