C: An example for growing the bigger plants

(1)Paph. bellatulum

These plants were passed for 3 years after transplanting. I guess,it is suitable to grow like this after 3 years. The leaves will cover the whole compost. For Paph. bellatulum, I use the mix compost. But the size will be smaller than that for Paph. niveum and they have more woody materials.

(2)Paph. concolor

It is very similar to the compost of Paph. bellatulum. And the procedure for growing is also similar. Paph. concolor will allow the lower temperature and watering comparing with Paph. bellatulum. It will be easier to grow than Paph. bellatulum. The plants off photo is also 3 years passed from transplanting to this pot.

(3)Paph. conco-bellatulum

Also, for conco-bellatulum is similar procedure for growing to Paph. bellatulum and concolor. But this species will familiar with Paph. concolor, I think.
In some case, I made mistakes. Of course, It is impossible to grow well for all plants. Now the new shoot came out. It looks like lonesome because the smaller plant is in a big pot. This plants deceased and rotted their leaves suddenly. Originally, it was so big plants. But it will be easier to be decease because the bigger plants will not get winds enough in some case.

(4)Paph. niveum

This plants has passed about 4 years after transplanting. As you can see, it is very huge plants with over 10 shoots. But in the last winter, I made a mistake for watering, it looks like loosing their vigor. I guess, their roots will damaged. So, I annoyed what I have to do. Woom....

(5)Paph. godefroyae & leucochilum

Paph. leucochilum

Paph. godefroyae

Both plants have passed 2 years after transplanting. They looks like growing well. You can see the size of their compost bigger than that of Paph. bellatulum etc.

The seedling of Paph. godefroyae

The seedling of Paph. godefroyae

The seedlings in the upper photo imported from Thailand last year. And the seedlings of the both photo are deflasked from the same bottle. You will be surprised the difference between them. Of course, I have potted at the same time and the compost is exactly same.
So, from where the difference come, you think ? The reason might be come from 1)the small difference of the compost in the pots. 2) The difference of the material of the Pots.(The left one made by Ceramics and the right one made by usual black plastic.) 3)The difference of the position in the green house. Someone think 3) will be the big difference for the results. But from the many pots, the answer is 3), I believe. Although we think them grow in the same condition in the green house, there are big difference dependent on the position of the green house. The difference will bring much bigger differences than we expect. The better seedlings were placed on the bench faced east getting good winds in summer. On the other hand, the worth seedlings were placed on the edge of bench faced south. It looks like better place because it is bright and warmer. But the results is as above. From the results. we are considered that the environment is more important than the technique for growing Paphs. Considering about many orchids' growers in Tokyo grow well in so hard condition, I respect the growers truly.
