 A new variety of Paphiopedilum barbigerum was found from Laos and described as Paphiopedilum barvigerum var. sulivongii by Mr. Andre SCHUITEMAN & Pierre BONNET.
The habitat is lithophyte on bare vertical cliff on flank of limestone hill in open semi-deciduous forest with Euphorbia.Leaves: 4 - 6 leaves, 12 - 19 cm x 1.8 - 2.9 cm. Inflorescence: 1 flowered, elect, 10 - 12 cm long, 3 mm diameter. Flower: NS 3.8 x 4/6 cm, DS 5 x 3.2 cm, LS 4.5 x 2.8 cm, P 5 x 1.4 cm.
