Orchids in Hong Kong

I'll introduce orchids in Hong Kong here. You know HK is one of the most famous tourist resorts around the world. But considering about the distribution of orchids, HK is the southest area in China and located in the similar latitude of Ha Noi, the capital of Viet Nam. There should be a lot of orchids in HK. In truth, HK is a beautiful town surrounded by green hills and is rich in nature. But now, the situation is going to change. The nature including orchids is going to be destroyed. The government is saying that about 70% of the wild orchids in HK has gone already. In HK, some people want to and try to keep the nature. This information from HK is supplied by Miss June Leung who is one of the person. She has her own Home page that is supporting with her brother. The HP was updated in the 13rd, Mar. 2000. Please visit their home page when you have a chance.

The 70% of the wild orchid already disappeared from Hong Kong, heavy development, and over collecting by the local collectors almost driven these beautiful plant gone from the wild forever.

It is so hot for me and my brother going to the hills, risk our life to climb the cliffs, that was a completely unforgettable time! We can do things we love to do so much, climb hill again. Waiting for orchid to bloom, we already discover 28 species, some is confirmed, but some need to wait until it flowers.

These photos were all taken by my self in the wild recently, even that trip is very hard for me, I still shaking each time I think of it, but this still wroth for me taking this beautiful picture in the wild, Hong Kong. 000331
